Christmas for a Mary's House Child

Christmas for a Mary's House Child Right here in our neighborhood are children who could wake up Christmas morning and not find gifts under the tree.

They’re the children of Mary's House. Last year, Westerwood neighbors "adopted" them by giving each a teddy bear and making financial contributions to buy them clothing and gifts for Christmas Day.

We're proud to take on the challenge again this year of putting smiles on children’s faces.

Mary’s House is located on Guilford Avenue. It's a place where mothers recovering from substance abuse can live with their minor children 12 and younger while receiving treatment and counseling to get their lives back on track. Mary's House provides transitional housing, so many of the children who lived there last year have now moved to homes of their own.

Please make your tax-deductible contribution payable to the Westerwood Neighborhood Association, specifying Mary’s House on the memo line.

To make sure the Mary’s House staff has time to purchase gifts for the children, mail or deliver your contribution to Rhonda Hensley, 903 Fairmont Street, 27401, no later than December 18.

We’ll be accepting donations on Dec. 7 at the bridge decorating party and on Dec. 16 at the holiday get-together.

If you’d prefer, give a gift certificate to grocery, discount, or drug stores. Either way, you’ll wake up yourself on Christmas morning, knowing that you’ve helped put a smile on a child’s face. There’s no better gift.
